Determination of grain size by means of automatic image analysis according to EN ISO 643 and ASTM-E112, using the so-called "line intercept method". Useful for single-phase (ferritic), dual-phase (ferritic/pearlitic) or colour-etched micrographs. Using pre-installed image pre-processing and evaluation algorithms, the grain size number G and lots of other measurement values are determined in a very time-saving and ergonomical way. Also automated categorization and histogram generation (chords length), interactive correction mode (for difficult image material), measurement values in table form, and many more. Fast, automatic transfer of images, histograms and measured data to the dhs Image Data Base. User settings can be saved in profiles to generate reproducible analyses.
